Getting Ready for Your Preview

When you are preparing for your preview with Boston Ever After, there are a few tips to remember to get the most out of your appointment. The goal of a trial is to have an idea and plan for your Bridal look.

Before your appointment, make sure that you have clean, moisturized skin. Dry skin acts like a magnet for the pigment in all makeup and will only look more dry with makeup. It is SO important to stay hydrated and moisturized, while preparing for your big day (don't forget your lips!!). Our makeup artists specialize in bridal makeup and will be able to best determine if your look requires airbrush or traditional makeup application. Our hair stylists prefer clean, dry hair. You don't want to waste time at your trial appointment having your hair blown dry. Dirty hair is not longer recommended for formal hair styling. We prefer clean hair, because we can add product to suit the style of the look, but we can't clean dirty hair with products (no, not even dry shampoo).

You should have some photos handy of makeup and hair looks you like, but also look through photos of yourself to see how you like your own hair styled. Do you love having it high up? All down? To the side? It is helpful to have photos of the front and back of your gown and to have your headpieces, veil and any jewelry (earrings, necklace) that you may be wearing. This will help to build a cohesive look from head to toe.

For the sake of being able to make adjustments or try several different looks, our previews are not exact copies of the wedding day look. We don't prep the same way we will on your wedding day and we don't use as much product to set the styles. This means we may not completely seal down frizzies or do a full coverage makeup. We want to be able to play with the looks until we are both comfortable with the game plan for the day of.

Our last tip for preparing for your preview is to decide if you want a private appointment or if you want family or friends present. This one completely depends on you and how involved you want anyone else to be in your look. We prefer private previews, because most times it is our first meeting with you and we want to focus on you. If you want others to be present, we recommend inviting the to join at the end. If a friend or family member is worried about missing out, reassure them that we take multiple photos of each style and you may share them, at your own discretion.

Don't forget that you won't have your dress and accessories on at your trial, so it may feel a little over-the-top at first, no matter how minimal the look. Its just like wedding dress shopping in flip flops and a messy-bun. :)
